Fishing

Wild brown trout fishing is available on many of the lochs in the area. The wild brownies are strong fighting fish and rise freely to the fly right through the season from mid April to the end of September. Boats, outboard motors and tackle are available for hire . Tuition and Ghillie services are available. The Glen Affric has a drying room, catch and cook and freezer facilities. Salmon run in the rivers Glass and Farrer from early July and we can arrange beats throughout the season. Mr Duncan Maclennan is one of the local experts and you can visit his website at www.Strathglassfishing.com. We can provide special inclusive fishing packages to meet your needs just ask for details.

Walking and nature trails

Whether you want a gentle stroll through the forests or a mountain trek then this is the place for you. There are so many places to walk that you can come back again and again and always see something different. Here are a few examples. There are numerous forest trails within the Glen Affric National Nature reserve ranging from 30 min riverside walks to 2 hours through the forest or for the slightly more energetic try the Loch Affric circular walk which is 11 miles on footpath and forest road amidst some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery. You can also walk through Glen Affric to the West Coast, a distance of some 20 miles. We can arrange transport to take you and bring you back to the Glen Affric on this and many other walks as well as providing information packs for routes and points of interest along you way. Glen Affric has a large area of Ancient Caledonian pine forest with laid out walks , wildlife and information points. We like to cater specially for walkers providing good value carbohydrate loaded walker's meals, drying room and laundry facilities along with transport, information packs and a warm welcome.

Munro Bagging and Mountaineering

Glen Affric and its neighbouring Glens have many Munros for you to conquer including the highest tops in the North of Scotland, Carn Eighe and Mam Sodhail. These are spectacular tops affording views from coast to coast and to the Outer Hebrides. They rank 12 and 14 respectively in the Munro table. There are sixteen Munros in the local area and many more that can be reached when using the Glen Affric as a base. We can provide motor transport to the best start points and although most of the local hills are easily accessible for the more remote in Glen Cannich we can arrange a boat to take you along the loch. Please phone for details of transport and book in advance. It is also important to note that the boat can only operate in good weather and outside the stalking season which is August to October. If you are feeling adventurous it is possible to take in a number of Munros while walking the 20 mile long and beautiful Glen Affric which links all the way to the west coast. We can arrange transport for one way trips and there is a good youth hostel half way.

Riding and pony trekking

There are several good stables in the area and an excellent trekking centre where you can enjoy fantastic rides on traditional highland ponies through magnificent highland scenery. The trekking centre is right up in the Glen where you won't see a road and so this is a great way to experience the scenery and nature. You can go for an hour or anything up to an adventure of a trek for several days ways up into the mountains.

Boat hire

Why not enjoy a day or half a day exploring a loch in one of our boats. Boat hire with outboard and petrol 35 per day or 20 for half a day. Life jackets are provided. Each boat can take up to 6 people. This is also a great way to fish. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Bird watching

The area offers many opportunities for bird watching with its open mountains and forest landscapes. Recently one of our customers came back very excited having seen two golden eagles over Glen Cannich. Although we don't know a lot about bird watching yet, we will be glad to help you in any way that we can and the local RSPB warden organises regualar walks etc.
